“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32 NIV
Most of us want to know the truth. Even when sometimes that truth can be harsh. Once the fact is separated from fiction, we can respond more decisively. In that knowledge is freedom. Many times though we have trouble making that distinction, the world presents us with “alternative truths.” Lies that dressed up to make them sound like a reasonable truth. It is putting the proverbial lipstick on the pig. No matter how much you dress it up, it’s still a pig. Satan’s work at his finest!
With Jesus, there are no alternative truths. There is one truth only. Believing in him is the only absolute truth, and in that, we find freedom. The sins that once kept us chained are broken forever. Nothing can bind us to this earth, for in the gift of salvation, our freedom lies in the eternal.
Heavenly Father, we give you thanks for the truth in Jesus Christ. We find joy in the freedom of that truth. Please help us this day to share that truth with others in everything we say and do. In your Son, Jesus, we pray. Amen.
