Have you ever started a home improvement project quickly to discover you don't have the right tools? You may have had them at one point, but they are no longer in your toolbox. You may find it by searching around other places, like a kitchen drawer, but it often means a trip to Lowe's. I experienced this last week when I wanted to remove the window air conditioner in the church office. All I needed for the job was a medium-sized Phillips head screwdriver, but I couldn't find one anywhere in the house after much searching. It looks like its time for a trip to my favorite home improvement store.
Today's scripture assures us that Christ provides us with all the spiritual equipment we need. In God’s word, the Bible, we have the biggest and best toolbox ever. We never need to worry about missing a tool; it is right there in our toolbox. While a trip to Lowe's is not required, we may still need help searching for that elusive screwdriver. We know we it’s there somewhere, but sometimes we need help locating it. What we seek may be buried at the bottom. Christ also equips us with the Holy Spirit, which can help us not only find what we are looking for but show us how to use it when necessary - the original YouTube.
God, we thank you for equipping us with what we need to live godly lives. We ask for your help in using those gifts to glorify you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
