Held by an Endless Love

“For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” Psalm 100:5 (NIV)

The psalmist does not describe a momentary feeling or a passing kindness. He names something eternal: God’s goodness is pure, perfect, and unchanging, and His love is not measured in seasons but in eternity. When Scripture says the Lord is good, it is not comparing Him to human goodness — it is revealing that goodness itself has a source, a center, a name.

And that goodness — God’s amazing grace — is turned toward us. 

We who are inconsistent, fragile, and sometimes fearful are held by the One whose love does not flicker or fade. His love has endured from creation’s first breath and will endure beyond the last sunrise. It is the love that forms us in the womb, accompanies us through every valley, and gathers us home when our earthly journey is complete.

Across generations — long before we were born and long after we are gone — God’s faithfulness remains steady. We stand in a long line of people – all of the saints — who have discovered the same truth: God does not change, and His love does not end. This is grace — the love that comes before us, stays with us, and carries us into glory.

Grace is not merely God’s willingness to forgive; it is His unwavering desire to be in relationship with us. It is His goodness reaching toward us, His love surrounding us, His faithfulness sustaining us. We live our entire lives inside that grace.

Good and gracious God, thank You for the love that has no ending and the faithfulness that spans every generation. Hold us today in the strength of Your goodness. Shape our hearts by Your grace, steady our steps by Your faithfulness, and remind us that we are always, always loved. Amen.
