"Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!" 1 Chronicles 16:11 ESV

How many remember the children's game of “Hide and Seek”? As youngsters, we spent hours playing this game on the schoolyard. Close your eyes and count to 20, then go in search of the person. Some kids had a great knack in hiding. My usual spot was behind a tree, not especially great as most kids playing knew that.

Today's verse tells us to seek the Lord. Unlike the children's game, God isn't hiding. He is in the wide-open with arms outstretched. The problem often is with our seeking. While God is in plain sight, we fail to see. Yet, at other times we may see but ignore. When we seek, we need to have both open eyes and open hearts.

How often should we seek God? Continually! Not just when we need, or only in our dedicated prayer time, but keeping an open line of communication without ceasing. In continually seeking God, we have immediate access to his strength in any situation. We prepare ourselves for the worst the world can throw at us.

God, we give you thanks for the strength we find in you. You do not keep yourself hidden from us. Instead, you wait anxiously, willing to help us. Come and dwell with us, and help us to be aware of your presence throughout this day. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Blessings!

Pastor Tim
