Listen, Trust, Obey

Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you. Psalm 143:8 (NLT)

As a fresh young kid starting in the business world, I had a college education but little real-world practical experience. So sitting in meetings and listening to the conversations, I would hear new technical concepts, unknown acronyms, and terms and feel like I was in a foreign land. Fortunately, I had some kindly, seasoned colleagues who took me under the wings and would explain what happened after the meeting. Only by listening and trusting in their guidance could I accomplish the tasks I had been assigned.

Like my thoughtful coworkers, God knows life sometimes can be overwhelming and desires to help. He doesn't want us to be unhappy, confused, and bewildered by events but to feel engaged and needed. But for that, we must first listen–which means to be in conversation with Him. Secondly, to trust in what he says. Finally, we must be obedient. When we heed his advice, we walk in the paths of righteousness–following the footsteps of Jesus.

Compassionate God, thank you for your unfailing love. Help us to seek your guidance, listen to and trust your direction, and be obedient to your will. We pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Blessings,

Pastor Tim
