My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalms 121:2 NIV
At times we all need help. There is nothing wrong or shameful about needing help; it's a fact of life. I'm sure when we look back over our lives, each of us can remember such a time. We also gratefully remember the people who gave us a hand up.
We need to remember where our help comes from. The psalmist reminds us that God helps us even without our knowledge. Ever watching, he protects us night and day from our beginnings to our endings. Yet, we often take his help for granted, failing to recognize God as the source. Like we express our gratitude to others when they lend support, we should also thank our Creator and Protector.
Gracious God, we come before you today in humility to give our thanks. We are grateful that from the time you knit us together in our mother's womb to this day and into eternity, you keep watch over us. All the help we receive, even should it come from others, comes from you. We ask you for nothing today but, in faith, recognize you will provide what we need when we need it. Amen.
