Few of us enjoy opposition and conflict; we much prefer things to go smoothly. However, we also realize that life doesn't work that way. Therefore, it is a given that we will find ourselves in uncomfortable and tense situations. In these times, though, we may doubt and ask God the "Why questions." Why me? Why now?
The truth is, we may never receive the answer to the why; instead, God gives us a promise. Though we face harm, our foes will not succeed. The slander and accusations made against us won't stand. We can believe this promise because it is our heritage as believers. God is greater than anything we face. We know this because Jesus conquered the most significant obstacle of all, death. In His resurrection, he gave us the hope of eternal life. In sending the Holy Spirit, we are given the strength to stand against any conflict.
Father God, thank you for your promise. Nothing anyone can say or do that is greater than your love for us. Through your Son Jesus Christ, we have been redeemed and given hope, and through the Holy Spirit, we are endowed with the power to stand against opposition.
