Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.1 Peter 1:3 NRSV
I have been reading a book recently titled, The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven." It's a true story of the experiences of father and son Frank and Alex Malarkey following a car crash. When the paramedics arrived, they found Alex with his neck seriously broken, unresponsive, and with no signs of breathing. Today, Alex is 24 years old and shares the extraordinary encounter of his visit to heaven.
The Bible relates another true father and son story, Our Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus. We know the story well; Jesus was sent by the will of the Father to bring healing. After offering his life as a sacrifice for our sins, he returned to the Father. But he is coming back; his work still needs to be finished.
While Alex's experience is exceptional, it is no less miraculous than what God did in sending Jesus to save all of us. Once we were condemned by sin, our relationship with God hopelessly fractured. But thanks to the Son, we no longer have to live that life; through our belief in him, we become resurrected people filled with new life.
Father God, we thank you for the miraculous spiritual healing found through your Son. We have been delivered from the certain death in sin into a new righteous life. Help us share the message of our deliverance with others so they may enjoy the hope found in you. Amen.
