We are born with a vacuum, not the kind you use on a rug but an emptiness. As children, we do not realize it, but as we mature, we recognize some void in our lives, something missing. We seek different things to fill that space, and our adversary, Satan, has all sorts of suggestions, but they bring only more emptiness.
Thankfully, there is another choice, to accept Christ. When we do, the emptiness is filled by the Holy Spirit, and our lives are given direction. Our new purpose is to do all good things, act justly, grant forgiveness, show kindness, mercy, and love as we walk humbly before God in all that he asks. With God, we become more than ourselves.
Gracious God, thank you for the salvation offered in Jesus Christ that fills the vacuum in our lives. Bless us today as we live according to your purpose. Let our actions be for your glory. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
