Help

Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Psalms 124:8

Regardless of who we are, we all need help. Perhaps not physical assistance so much as simple human contact–being there for each other. Having fellowship and rapport with each other, seeing faces, engaging in conversation, and sharing meals, are essential to our well-being. Now on the other side of two years of shutdown and isolation, we can appreciate how much we needed and missed that contact.

In addition to needing physical, mental, and emotional help, there is another critical aspect of ourselves in which we require assistance, the spiritual, the cement that binds our psyche together. While our church can and should provide spiritual aid, only God has the power to help genuinely. He who created heaven and earth holds the plan for all time and space, knows us before we were formed, knows us intimately, and knows the help we need and when we need it.

Father God, we thank you for the blessings of family, friends, and community who help us in many ways. Especially though we are thankful for the help that comes from you, the Father who knows everything about His children. Forgive us those times we have forgotten to give thanks, and help us to be constantly mindful of your presence. In our sibling, Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Blessings,

Pastor Tim
