“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 ESV
The word confidence jumps out of the scripture today. Our human nature is anything but confident. We often feel we are inadequate, unworthy, and undeserving. But through Jesus, we can approach God’s throne with confidence (v. 14-15). “Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.” Jesus, who experienced all the same temptations and conquered sin and death, is our intermediary. It is through our faith in the Son that we have a direct line to God.
God, we give thanks for your mercy and grace. Thank you for your Son, who serves as our high priest. Help us in those times we feel unworthy to remember we are your children and are loved, and that we can come to you in confidence. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Blessings!
Pastor Tim
