Confidence & Assurance

"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1 NIV

We often place our hope in many things; leaders, governments, systems, retirement funds, etc. Each Sunday in worship service, I hope we don't have technical issues, but each week brings a different challenge. I hope, but I lack confidence and assurance that they'll ever be a week without some new problem.

When it comes to the things of this earth, it is hard to have faith. We are all fallible, and the things we create are buggy and have glitches. But we can place trust in God. We have confidence and assurance based on previously answered prayers. While sometimes not in the manner or time we wish, God has never failed us. In his proven consistency and reliability, we can have faith in those things we hope. It doesn't matter that we can not physically see God; we have been witnesses to his compassion, goodness, and grace.

Loving and compassionate God, we give thanks for your many gifts. Where we are fallible, you are consistent and reliable. We know this, but at times we still lack faith. We continue to place value and reliance on people and human-made systems. God, please help us to let go and accept your grace. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Can you think of a time when you lost faith? Now did God, help you through the situation?

Blessings!

Pastor Tim
