And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 NIV
As we see the impact of inflation at the grocery stores and gas pumps, we can all benefit from hearing Paul's message again to the church in Philippi. In verse 12, he says, "I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want." The secret he refers to is the faith that God provides for all of our material and spiritual needs.
Yes, times are difficult right now and may grow more so. However, we can find satisfaction, happiness, and peace amid uncertain times through Jesus Christ. Like Paul, we may need to adjust to our circumstances, but we remain secure in knowing we serve a Lord who does not deal in scarcity but plenty. The God who feeds the sparrows and clothes the lilies of the fields will undoubtedly care for us from his riches.
God, our loving provider, thank you for meeting all our needs. Guide us through these troubled times and grant us the wisdom to separate what we need from what we think we must have. Help us to be content in our circumstances. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
