Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. 1 Corinthians 13:7 NLT
In the 1977 Fleetwood Mac song "Don't Stop," writer and singer Christine McVie discusses looking forward to tomorrow. Though it was written after her divorce from her husband and bandmate, John, It's a love letter filled with optimism.
Why not think about times to come,
And not about the things that you've done.
If your life was bad to you,
Just think what tomorrow will do.
Don't stop thinking about tomorrow.
Don't stop, it'll soon be here.
It'll be better than before.
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone.
In today's verse, we also find encouragement. We can look to our tomorrow with optimism. As God's children, we are surrounded by his perfect love in every circumstance. When we may be tempted to give in, he gives us the strength to never gives up. When we are unfaithful, he remains faithful. When we feel hopeless, he gives us hope.
Having experienced this love, we, in turn, can love God, others, and ourselves more perfectly. When God could have thrown up his hands in disgust and turned away because of our rebellion, he took human form and died for our sins instead. Yet, he did not stop believing in us, hoping for us, and remaining steadfast in his love.
God, thank you for your perfect love. You stay persistent in your faithfulness to us. Forgive us for all our imperfect yesterdays and help us to love more perfectly today and all our tomorrows. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior. Amen.
Blessings,
