Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”

How many have seen the movie, Dr. Dolittle? There have been several, but my favorite is the original from 1967 with Sir Rex Harrison. You may remember that Dr. John Dolittle is a veterinarian with an extraordinary talent; he can communicate with animals. Anyone who has owned a pet would appreciate this skill; sometimes, when they look at you, you wonder what they are thinking.
Dr. Dolittle, of course, is a fictional character, but the Apostle John, in a vision, heard the animals speaking. It wasn't the mythical Pushme-Pullyu and the Giant Lunar Moth from the movie, but it was every character God had created, above and below the earth and in the sea. All the species of creatures from those we know to those we never see. All of them offering their glory and praise to God the Father and His son Jesus the Lamb. Can we imagine it? Doesn't the awesomeness of the image send a shiver down our spiritual spines?
We, too, are included in those creatures. We are simply another of God's creations. While we may never hear the birds of the sky, the animals of the earth, and the fish in the sea sing God's praises, there is nothing to stop us. So, wherever we are in this moment, let us lift our hearts and voices in celebration to God our Creator and Jesus our Redeemer.
Magnificent God, we give thanks for all of your creation. Today, we come before you humbly to honor you; we offer our gratitude and praise for your grace. We especially give thanks for Jesus Christ, who saves us from sin. Please help us today to live blameless and righteous lives, that all our actions glorify you. Amen.
