What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31 NIV
We know Steve Harvey as a successful actor, comedian, and TV host, but this wasn't always the case. At one point, he was living in his car, making ends meet with $50 a week. In a 2016 interview with People, he said, “I sat down and started crying, but a voice said, ‘If you keep going, I’m going to take you places you’ve never been.’ It was like God said, ‘Don’t quit, you’re almost there.'”
While our stories may not be as dramatic as Harvey's, we would not be where we are in this moment without God's grace. While in prison, the Apostle Paul writes, "neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (v. 39)
Wherever you are in this moment, whether things are going well or amid the struggle of your life, remember that God is with you. If all is well, give God thanks and praise. If you are walking through a dark valley, take courage, comfort, and strength, for absolutely nothing can stand against you.
Gracious God, we give you thanks for your infinite compassion and love. We are confident in the knowledge that you are with us in every situation, offering refuge and standing in our defense. There is nothing Satan can throw against us to separate us from your love. Yet, we acknowledge our human frailty, weakness, and doubt. In those times, please help us remember your promise and take hope. Amen.
