Immeasurably More

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21 (NIV)
Have you ever experienced a moment when God provided more than you expected? Maybe it was an answered prayer, an unexpected blessing, or a situation that turned out far better than you imagined.
Today’s passage reminds us that our requests or imagination do not limit God. Our biggest dreams, our largest requests, pale in comparison to his ability to answer. That same power is at work within us. The phrase “immeasurably more” (NIV) or “exceedingly abundantly” (NKJV) speaks to God's overwhelming generosity and limitless ability.
Paul’s words in this passage encourage us to trust in God’s power rather than our own limitations. We often pray with expectations based on what we think is possible, but God operates beyond human constraints.
In Corinthians 2:9, Paul writes: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.” This verse echoes the truth that God’s plans exceed our understanding.
When we embrace this mindset, we begin to pray with new boldness, live with faith, and trust that God is working in ways we cannot yet see.
Are you in a situation right now where you see no way out? Perhaps you've tried everything within your abilities to remedy the situation, yet nothing seems to change. The weight of uncertainty, frustration, or fear may feel overwhelming.
But take heart—the same God who knew your name before you were born is with you now. As Jeremiah 1:5 reminds us: “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.” God has always known you, loved you, and had a purpose for your life.
Not only does he know you, but he cares deeply for you. Psalm 139:13-14 declares: “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Be assured that you are not forgotten, and your struggles are not unseen.
God desires you to release your burdens to him. 1 Peter 5:7 encourages us: “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” Surrendering your situation to God doesn’t mean giving up—it means trusting that he is able to do immeasurably more than you could ever ask or imagine.
Heavenly Father, thank you for being a God who does immeasurably more than we could ever ask or imagine. Forgive us when we limit you with our doubts and small expectations. Help us to trust in your power at work within us. Strengthen our faith to believe in greater things, to pray boldly, and to live with confidence in your promises. May your glory be seen in our lives and in the church for generations to come. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
