“Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.” Daniel 12:3 NIV
If you went to Sunday school or CCD, one teacher probably stands out above the rest. For me, it was Sister Agantha Edwards, a petite, silver-haired woman who, at the time, I thought was one hundred but probably only sixty. Yet, she taught countless children with gentleness, patience, and wisdom over the years, lovingly sharing who God was with her and helping us to see Christ was also within us.
While life gives us experiences, God turns them into wisdom. By his wisdom, we see his hand in our seemingly ordinary days, and we can make sense of what otherwise seems chaos. When we lack wisdom, we need only to ask God, and it will be given. (James 1:5) We do not gain this wisdom in a day, but it is a continual unfolding of truth. As our wisdom increases, so does our testimony of God's goodness and grace.
Having been gifted with wisdom, we are not to retain it for pleasure but to bear witness to it. The peace, love, and joy we experience, the result of coming to know God, we are to share with others. While we are not all gifted like Sister Agantha as teachers, we all have a testimony and voices. Through our witness, we can add stars to the heavens.
God, we thank you for the gift of wisdom. Embolden us to share our testimonials of your goodness with others. May we see the glory of your brightness shining within our lives. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our bright and morning star. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
