Out of the Cavern
He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love. Colossians 1:13 NKJV
On June 23, 2018, what began as a fun spelunking trip for the twelve members of the Thailand Wild Boars youth soccer team and their coach as a flash flood trapped them in the cave. What was meant to be a quick excursion turned into 17 days with scarce supplies and darkness. Finally, thanks to divers, they were led out of the cave using scuba gear. The last survivor was rescued on July 10, 2022.
As miraculous as this story is, it pails compared to the deliverance offered through Jesus Christ. We stand in awe when we consider that God so loved us, not only humanity as a group but each of us individually, that he was willing to sacrifice his beloved Son to deliver us from the dark, flooded cavern of sin into the light. Not only are we brought from the cave but brought into a kingdom!
There are still many who have not heard God's message of deliverance. They remain trapped in the darkness, hungry and thirsty, believing they are doomed to expire. As believers, we must be the divers who carry the light of Christ into the cave of fear and dread.
God of Deliverance, thank you for saving us from darkness and bringing us into your kingdom. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
