Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. 1 Chronicles 29:11 NIV
Have you ever been asked to describe love? It's nearly impossible. There are not enough words to define the feeling. The feeling is so intense that language is inadequate for the emotion.
It is like that when we try to give God praise. We have an example of this in the beautiful prayer by David in 1 Chronicles 29:10-20; we sense his humility and earnestness, the desire not to leave anything out. Though there are not adequate words to describe our thanks and praise, we can, like David, assume the attitude of prayer. In this intimate one-on-one time with our Creator, Savior, and Helper, we can open our hearts and let him speak for us where words cannot.
Like love, though we are hard-pressed to describe it, we are hopefully better at showing it. We demonstrate our love for God and others in our actions. We praise God by living righteously, rejecting sin, and daily seeking to live as devoted and faithful children, growing into the perfect example of Jesus Christ.
Father of all there is, we come meekly and sincerely before you with open hearts. There are not enough words to express our love for you. Though we can't adequately describe it in words, we desire to show it in our actions. May everything we do today reflect your glory, and may you accept it as our praise. Help us to become more and more like you. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
