Remain in Me

Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. John 15:4‭ NLT

In today's "I Am" statement, Christ compares himself to a grapevine. The shoots off the vine are dependent on it for their health. All the nutrients it needs come from that source; the branches wither and die if cut off.

The branch has one purpose, to bear fruit. Not just any fruit, sour grapes are of no value, but lush, sweet grapes are different. They are a good reflection of the vine and the branch.

Our spiritual health, as Christians, is dependent on clinging to Jesus. Our ability to produce good and plentiful fruit depends on this relationship. The closer we become, the more abundant and the better the fruit.

Jesus, our vine, help us to remain in you and produce lush and plentiful fruit. May we be faithful witnesses, and all those around us see you through our actions. Amen.

Blessings,

Pastor Tim
