I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Philippians 1:3 NKJV
If you have not done so in a while, pause and reflect on all the people who have influenced your life. Some of these folks, such as family members, may have been predetermined, and others by appearing random chance. For some, you may not remember the exact time and place, but recall clearly the impact they've made in molding who you have become.
Paul begins this letter by remembering all the saints of Philipp, fondly keeping them in prayer, and recalling the fellowship they shared. While we hear only Paul's voice in the letter, we can be assured the feeling was mutual. The proof of this is the continued strength of this Gentile congregation, considered to be a model for the early church.
Let us pause, giving God thanks for each foundational person in our lives. But let us also remember that we have been, and continue to be, that person in others' lives. Let us pray that we will be recalled for our righteousness and good works.
God, of all good gifts, we thank you for all those who have been instrumental in our lives. Help us recall these saints' actions, that they will assure, inspire, and motivate us. Being led by the Holy Spirit, may we be remembered with fondness for our witness. We pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
