I sought the Lord, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. Look to him, and be radiant; so your faces shall never be ashamed.
Psalms 34:4-5 NRSV
Whenever we plan a journey, we think about our destination. Where are we going? If it's hours away, we may choose to fly, if to an island, perhaps a boat; if only for a day trip, we will likely drive or take a train.
Sometimes, when we think of seeking God, we think of a long journey; our prayers need to reach beyond the stars to His ears. There it gets processed, approved (or denied), and the message is returned. We forget we don't need to travel anywhere except inward because He lives within us. There's no time lag in waiting for Him to arrive to relieve us from our anxieties and fears. He's here!
Secure in that knowledge; we don't need to bow our heads, cowering in fear. No, we can lift our heads smiling, radiant, and confident in his presence. As the Apostle Paul writes, "If God is for us, who is against us?" (Rom 8:31) There is nothing, no fears, no anxieties, nor distance that can separate us from His love for us. He is with us!
Most gracious God, thank you for dwelling within us. There is no delayed response when we need you, but you are right here, right now. Because of You, we can walk boldly with heads high and smiles on our faces, confident in that knowledge. We give thanks to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
