"For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed," says the Lord, who has compassion on you." Isaiah 54:10 ESV
It is hard to fathom the depths of God's love for us. People have been known to do some incredible feats to save others. Heroic soldiers on the battlefield, taking extraordinary measures to save comrades. Rescue crews after September 11 and the Marathon Bombing, emergency personnel, and bystanders worked to comb through the wreckage to rescue the injured and dying. Daily medical staff and emergency personnel work tirelessly to save lives. The only reason someone would do this is out of love for humanity.
But God's love and compassion for his children is so much greater than any human act, though. As an example, even if the elevations were utterly leveled, even to the end of the world, God's love for us remains unshaken, and his covenant with us remains unwavering. Despite our continual failure to uphold our end of the agreement, God remains steadfast.
Most awesome and steadfast God, we give you thanks for your boundless love and compassion. Although we falter and fail in upholding our covenant with you, you care for us remains steadfast. We give you thanks for your many blessings. Please help us as we ever strive to grow in our relationship with you. We pray especially for your hand of protection on all the emergency and medical personnel, keeping them safe and well. In Christ's name, we pray. Amen.
