True Freedom
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17 NIV
We have the luxury in this country of many freedoms. And we are fortunate to have a Bill of Rights in our Constitution and other laws to protect those freedoms. However, we can enjoy all those freedoms and still not be free. Whenever what we do is sinful, though legal, it is not true freedom.
A healthy uncomfortable tension exists within us whenever we do what we want under the guise of freedom, but it's not Godly. Whenever our actions are not aligned with the will of the Father, we experience conviction this is the result of the Holy Spirit, the Helper, sent by Christ, and the third person of our Trinitarian God alive within us. We can have true freedom only when we listen and obey the Spirit.
Father, thank you for the true freedom found in you. Through Jesus Christ, you have reconciled us to you, and by the Spirit, you lead and guide us in your paths. Forgive us those times; we have been disobedient. Help us to be ever aware of your presence and to live righteously. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
