"She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." Matthew 1:21 NIV
According to a study by the United Nations, an average of 385,000 babies are born each day. Genetically while 99.9% of DNA is shared, no two of those babies are the same, even identical twins. Each of us begins our life's journey with uniqueness, and as we mature, that individuality becomes more pronounced by nurture and nature. Sadly, one of the things we share is a proclivity to sin. Though we begin our journey pure and sinless, we are born into a world of sin.
Enter into this fallen world the baby son Jesus. His DNA was that of God and Mary, a young and pure human mother. Although every baby is unique, none other could do what Jesus did, save us from our sins.
The Father blessed this unique baby with many exceptional gifts, preaching, teaching, and healing. But most of all, the gift of love, loving outsiders, friends, and even those who vehemently opposed and would later crucify him. By the love of the Father, the Word was made flesh. By this same love, we are reconciled with the Father.
Thank you for sending your Son Jesus to save us from evil. Help us to reject the sin we face this day and embrace your love. May we be messengers of that great love to others, and all our actions be a sweet offering to you. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
