Whatever You Do

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Colossians 3:17 NIV

The fact that we are reading this devotion right now is a reason for us to give thanks. Not because of the devotion, but because God has given us another day. A day to enjoy all of His creations. One more day to praise and serve God.

Our friends and families know we follow the risen Christ, and while some may not understand what that means, they know we are different. As Christ's disciples, our words and actions are used for good and healing, to build up and not tear down. Our mission is to make our world--this place right now--a better and more righteous place. We share with them our faith in the promise of eternal life.

As we encounter strangers throughout the day, they recognize this difference in us. They may not know what it is -- they can’t put a label on it, but it is the inner working of the Holy Spirit that makes our lives a witness to God's glory and sets us apart. While living in the world, we are not of this world. We give thanks for Christ’s leading us out of the darkness and giving us hope, our only hope.

Father Almighty, we give you thanks for another day to be your witnesses. We confess, sometimes we falter and stumble and ask your forgiveness. God, please be with us today in everything we do and say. May all we come in contact see your glory through us. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Blessings,

Pastor Tim
