Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart— they do no wrong but follow his ways. - Psalms 119:2-3 NIV
Have you ever known people who do the bare minimum? Perhaps, you experienced this in your job. This person may follow written instructions, but when they notice something questionable, they can't be bothered to follow up. So technically, they are doing what is asked, but without really caring about the end result.
Today's verse includes that all-important word "and"—meaning there is more to the statement. We will be blessed if we follow God's laws, but there is something else we must seek Him. There is more to serving God than simply obeying his laws. However, that is a good start. But to live righteously, we must also study his word, pray—communicate with God, ask him our questions—and be responsive in our actions.
God, thank you for your laws. Please help us to be obedient to them. Also, bless us as we read your divine word to interpret their meaning and as we pray to hear your voice. May we be humble in our asking and obedient in our responses. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
