Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

We all feel special when we are chosen. It doesn't matter if it was being selected for a playground team or later in life for a special project at work. When we are chosen, we are picked because we have something of value to add. This recognition of our worth by others makes us feel good.
God chooses us because we are all special to him. In our selection, he shows to the world the value he sees in us. Along with the privilege of being chosen, though, there comes a responsibility. We become representatives of God; as such, we are expected to conduct ourselves in a way that glorifies God. When we treat others with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, we are showing God's love for us and our appreciation for him.
God, we give you thanks for choosing us as your people and for seeing value in us. Please help us to leave lives that demonstrate to others your love for them. May they come to know that they have worth in your eyes and have already been chosen; all they need to do is believe and accept. We pray this in the name of your Son Jesus our Christ. Amen.
