"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9
One Saturday, after serving at the L Street Mission, a group of volunteers gathered around discussing the day. Now 2:00, the group had been on the go since 10:00 that morning. Everyone was tired but feeling blessed when someone exclaimed, "It's a good tired!"
There is a certain weariness that comes with everything we do. That is just part of being human. But today's verse encourages us not to grow tired of doing good. We never know what we say, what actions we take, may be a blessing to others. We may not see the harvest, which is in God's proper time. But we should not grow faint and discouraged in our work. Through the Holy Spirit, God gives us the strength and encouragement we need to press on.
Loving God, we are thankful for the work of the Holy Spirit within us. When we feel weary and discouraged, you provide the rest and encouragement we need. Let the good we do be for Your glory. Bless our words and our actions so others may come to know you. May every day be a "good tired'' in your service. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Blessings!
Pastor Tim
