“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
High School algebra confounded me. It wasn't that I couldn't solve the problems. My stumbling block was trying to understand why the equations were structured as they were. After admitting this to my algebra teacher, he told me at this point; I only needed to accept them as presented and merely work the problem.
Sometimes we become so entangled in comprehending the how and why of God that we forget just to accept. All we need to understand is the simple undisputed truth that God loves us -- each of us, unconditionally. Not that we shouldn't search for an understanding of God by reading and meditating on his Word, but we also must have faith. Regardless of how much we learn and experience God, his ways continue to beyond our mortal thinking. By trusting in him and accepting his love, we can bask in his peace.
Precious and loving God, we give you thanks for your peace. We confess sometimes we get caught up in trying to comprehend who and what you are that we forget to accept in faith. We know your grace is not based on anything we do; it is because you love us. We find it difficult to understand that kind of love, but we are thankful that your grace goes beyond our worthiness. Please help us to share with others the peace found in accepting you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
