Bicycle

And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:24‭-‬25 NRSV

I'm not sure how the recall of early memories is supposed to work, but I remember only a few things from my early childhood. One thing I remember with clarity is learning to ride a bicycle. Never being the most coordinated of people, I struggled with keeping my balance. As long as someone walked behind me with their hand on the seat, I was confident, but the moment I knew they'd let go, I toppled over. But, thanks to my family's understanding and encouragement, I finally got it. Their love helped conquer my uncertainty.

As a church family, we demonstrate our love for our brothers and sisters in reciprocal encouragement. We help guide each other towards more perfect love and righteousness. Sometimes it may be our hand on the bicycle seat, and at other times it's someone else's hand on ours. We walk alongside, through fear and uncertainty, but always moving forward.

Gracious God, thank you for the encouragement of our brothers and sisters in Christ. May we continually urge one another forward into your pure love and righteousness. Bless our services today, that as your word is read, songs are sung, and the message shared, we would go forth into the world encouraged and with your peace. Amen.

Blessings,

Pastor Tim
