Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 NIV
There are times in life when we feel exhausted. Not simply physically tired but also spent in mind and spirit. Yet, that doesn't stop new demands from continuing to press in from every direction; it all seems too much. The human Christ understood this bone-tiredness, and the divine Christ offered the promise of rest.
During these times, we may even feel too tired to pray. But in the times we feel least like praying, it is most important to ask God for help. We are guaranteed real peace and rest from all our burdens when we do. In addition, this pause is an opportunity for us to listen to God. He may well be telling us to slow down and make some changes. His desire for us is not to lead stressed-out, burned-out lives but to place our trust in him and find balance and rediscover joy.
God, we come to you today weary and burdened. We confess that we can't find rest on our own; we need your help. Lord, lift these things from us and fill us with your peace. Speak to us and guide us In the way we should go. We pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
