Born Again, Renewed Daily

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect." —Romans 12:2 (NRSV)

From the moment we are conceived, our lives are shaped by transformation. We grow in body, mind, and emotion—learning through experience, education, and the unpredictable rhythms of joy and sorrow. These changes form the person we are today.

But Scripture reminds us that true wholeness requires more than physical or emotional growth—it calls for spiritual rebirth.

In John 3:1-21, Nicodemus, a respected teacher, came to Jesus under the cover of night, seeking understanding. Jesus told him, “No one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.” Nicodemus was puzzled: “How can anyone be born after having grown old?”

His question echoes our own hesitations. Can we really begin again? Can transformation reach even the deepest parts of us?

Paul answers with a resounding yes. We are invited to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. This renewal is not a one-time event, but a daily surrender to God’s Spirit—a rhythm of grace that deepens over time. It isn’t a return to infancy, but a maturing into grace.

This transformation begins with remembering our baptism, acknowledging the presence of the Holy Spirit, and seeking God’s will through the means of grace—prayer, meditation on Scripture, and holy conversation.

We are not meant to conform to the patterns of this world, accepting greed, injustice, oppression, and selfishness, but to be reshaped by the One who made and freed us. Transformation is not a single moment—it’s a lifelong journey of becoming.

To be born again is not to start over, but to start deeper—with God at the center.

God of new beginnings, you formed us in love and continue to shape us through every season of life. We thank you for the gift of transformation—physical, emotional, and spiritual.

Like Nicodemus, we come with questions and longings, seeking to understand what it means to be born again. Renew our minds today.

Remind us of our baptism, the grace that claimed us, and the Spirit who first stirred our hearts toward you. Awaken in us a holy longing today, and shape us for your purposes.

Help us resist the pull of conformity and embrace the mystery of your will. May our lives reflect what is good, acceptable, and perfect in your sight.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Peace & Grace,

Pastor Tim
