"'And he said to them, 'Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation.'" Mark 16:15 (NRSV)
These are the words of the risen Jesus to his disciples. They had been by his side daily throughout his ministry and sent on mission trips in pairs before his death. Reunited with them after his resurrection, Jesus makes their mission clear; “proclaim the good news.” Not to just a selected few but to all the world.
For us as his disciples today, the charter remains the same to carry the good news of Christ's salvation into the world. With the far-reaching social media tools available today, we can easily broadcast this hope worldwide using nothing more than a smartphone. While that is wonderful, and I am grateful for technology, there is a great need for folks in our neighborhoods to hear the good news. Can you imagine the change that would take place in our communities, nation, and the globe if people listened to this message of hope and accepted?
God, we give you thanks for the good news brought to us in Jesus Christ. While we are unworthy, through your abundant grace, you offer us salvation. God, please create in us a hunger to share this beautiful amazing message with others. Bless our efforts so all may come to know you. We ask this in the name of your Son Jesus Christ. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
