Carrying Our Burdens

Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. Psalms 68:19 NIV

Driving through Brockton recently, I noticed a woman carrying what appeared to be a laundry basket on her head. While I know this is common practice in many cultures, it still struck me as unusual and subconsciously made my neck ache just watching. But honestly, it is never comfortable regardless of how we carry our burdens, head, arms, backs, minds, or souls.

As God's children, we never have to bear those burdens alone, and he does this not just occasionally, but every time we go to him in prayer. In walking with Christ, it is like sharing the carrying of a laundry basket; we have one handle and He the other. The weight of the load is still the same, but it's lighter because of his help.

Father in Heaven, we praise you for the help you give us each day, and we thank you for Jesus Christ, our intermediary, and the encouragement and strength of the Holy Spirit. We come before you now confident in the knowledge you stand ready to bear our burdens with us. The weights that are too heavy for us to carry alone become manageable through you, and the impossible becomes possible. Amen.

Blessings,

Pastor Tim
