Choosing God Over Chariots and Horses

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God Psalms 20:7 (NIV)

In a world filled with promises and disclaimers, we often find ourselves navigating a landscape of competing voices. Watching the Olympics this past week, we noticed all the pharmaceutical advertisements touting miraculous results, followed by a litany of potential side effects. But this is just one example: politicians, technology, and financial systems vie for our trust, only to disappoint us. But where can we anchor our faith?

King David declares, “Now this I know!” His trust is unwavering, rooted in the Lord. Unlike fleeting products or systems, God remains consistent. We, too, can choose differently. Our trust need not be misplaced. God’s name echoes through generations, parting seas and breathing life into dust.

When disappointment knocks, God is our sanctuary. He lifts us when we stumble, turning setbacks into stepping stones. Amid the uncertainty, God grants us discernment between the temporal and the eternal. He gives us the solid ground beneath our feet—the compass guiding our steps.

Gracious God, our Rock and Refuge, As we gather in Your presence, hearts open, we seek wisdom and strength. Remind us that You are our unwavering support. When winds of uncertainty blow, You remain our sanctuary. In Your name, we find consistency, victory, and steadfast hope. Amen.

Blessings,

Pastor Tim
