No testing has overtaken you that is not common to everyone. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength, but with the testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 NRSV
We've all been through some pretty bad stuff. We've lost people we loved, and jobs have disappeared. We've struggled with many things, such as severe illness and battling temptations. While our tests and trials are different, this life experience is familiar to us all.
While we frequently have little or no control over whatever is happening, we control how we react. As humans, it's natural for us to experience anger, fear, and hurt. We may appear stoic to others but hidden behind the facade, our emotions tear away at us. But beyond the natural is the spiritual, the grit to press through those difficult times.
As believers, we can face the worst of life with confidence that God is with us. His faithful love gives us the strength we need and will provide a way out. Although we may not see how, and the timing is likely not ours, we trust he will.
Gracious and merciful God, thank you for always being with us. In you, we have the confidence that whatever we face, you are greater than the situation. You will give us the strength to prevail. We pray for all those facing tests now; may they remember your promise and trust in you. Amen.
