Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal. - Isaiah 26:4 NIV
Growing up, we spent a lot of time in the woods and hollers of south-central Indiana. Tramping through the woods, we would see all kinds of plants and wildlife. If you were lucky in early spring, you might even find edible mushrooms. Occasionally, walking the dry river beds, you would discover a geode. We would take them home, split them open with a hammer, and marvel at the glittering crystal beauty inside.
We know the Lord is our Rock and foundation, but inside there is hidden beauty. God is strength and security from the outside, but peering inside, we experience his love, compassion, and the glimmer of hope. Sadly, some folk will see God as just another rock, failing to accept Him as more than just that. As Christ's followers, we must show others what is inside. Through us, they can come to see his beauty.
Precious God, you have given us this beautiful creation. Everywhere we turn, we can see your glory. Sometimes, we need to look inside to see something special, hidden treasures. We see this in nature, ourselves, and in you. Help us today to look closely at what is within and share the beauty there with others. Let our words and actions proclaim your glory. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
