For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Philippians 2:13 NIV
Having worked in project management for several years, I noticed two groups of workers, the first, who have lots of potential and talent, simply showed up to collect a check. They usually do what they are told but lack enthusiasm. The second is a manager's dream. They bring vitality and ideas, frequently thinking ahead and working on the next item.
In serving Christ, the same thing applies. We can merely show up and do the minimum, or we can choose to be active participants to bring about his purpose. As uniquely gifted people created by God, he calls us to do different things. Sometimes, well, perhaps often, our obedience calls us to move into an uncomfortable area. These new areas may require us to use gifts we previously were unaware we possessed. But, as we allow God to work through us, we will be blessed beyond measure.
Gracious God, giver of all good gifts. We thank you for calling us to your service. Give us ears to listen to your calling and brave and obedient hearts. Use us to bring about your good purpose. We pray this in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
