"And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." 2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV
God is good all the time! And all the time, God is good! Sometimes this refrain is used in our church, but wouldn't it be a fantastic way to greet each other? A replacement for, "Hi, how're you doing?" (A question to which, most of the time, most people don't care about the answer anyway.) But God is good is a reminder that we are indeed blessed in all things at all times.
Wait, it doesn't stop there, though. God is good -- giving us everything we need -- with the expectation we share that goodness with others. That's right; we are to give thanks and pay it forward, not only to those folks we like but to everyone all the time. That person you’ve had a falling out with, send them a birthday card. That elderly neighbor whose lawn is overgrown; mow their lawn. For the child struggling in school, become their tutor. For those grappling with troubles, lend an ear -- you don't even need to say anything. Not sure what good work needs to be done, pray, and you will undoubtedly receive an answer.
God, we give you thanks for equipping us to do good. Please open our eyes to the need around us, and help us have the courage to take action. We pray that in all our works, that it is your glory that is recognized. We ask this in the name of your good Son and our example Jesus Christ. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
