God's Ever-Present Thoughts

How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you. - Psalms 139:17-18 (NIV)

Dreams are funny. Sometimes, they are filled with snippets of odd things pasted together in a chaotic sequence without meaning. At other times, they are ordered, appear in vivid color, and make total sense. Within them are sometimes answers to questions and peace from discomfort.

In penning these verses, David reflects on God's remarkable and countless thoughts towards us. He marvels at how God's care and attention surpass our understanding, even in the quiet moments of sleep and the waking hours.

Just as our dreams can be chaotic or comforting, so too can our daily lives. We face challenges, joys, and moments of confusion. Yet, through it all, God remains constantly with us, His thoughts ever-precious and numerous.

David, both as shepherd and king, understood this deeply. He recognized that God's presence is not merely a fleeting dream but a constant reality. When we wake from our dreams, no matter how chaotic or serene, God is still with us, guiding and loving us.

In our own lives, we may sometimes wonder if we are seen or remembered, especially in our times of struggle or uncertainty. The words of these verses remind us that God’s thoughts and presence are ever with us, a comforting reality that we can rely on. His love and presence envelop us, whether awake or asleep.

Loving and ever-present God, we thank You for Your countless thoughts towards us, more numerous than the grains of sand. As we reflect on David's words, we remember Your constant presence in our lives, both in our waking and sleeping moments.

Father, guide us through the challenges and joys of daily life with the confidence of knowing that You are always with us. Help us hold onto the assurance of being constantly on Your mind, enveloped by Your love and presence.

Help us to live by Your kingdom's values, seeking wisdom and walking upon Your path. In Jesus' holy name, we pray. Amen.

Blessings,

Pastor Tim
