God’s TripTik

“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8 ESV

Do you remember the old days before GPS when you used maps? When the boys were young, most summers, we would pack up the Sienna and drive to the Midwest to visit family; Easton, to Indiana to Missouri. Before we would head out, Janice would order a TripTik from AAA, sort of a mini-atlas of the best route for our journey. The maps helped find the most direct way and helpful in avoiding road construction delays.

God gives us a roadmap for a successful journey. He doesn't want there to be any confusion, so he gave us the Holy Bible as our TripTik. But he has some expectations; to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with him. What do those words mean? We have human ideas of what they mean, but what do they mean to God? For that, we need to join with God on the journey. In study, meditation, and prayer, he makes clear the directions. When we deviate from the route, like a GPS, he will respond, "Rerouting!". His desire is for us to remain on the right road for a successful journey.

God, we give you thanks for your sacred Word and the clarity you bring in our seeking. Help us to understand the meaning of justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly. Come, Lord Jesus, abide in us and direct our journey. Amen.

Blessings!

Pastor Tim
