So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. Romans 10:17 NLT
Usually, when we listen to the news, it's not good. It's either news that's devastating for everyone, the war in Ukraine, for example, or bad for a group but not all. Rarely is news good for everyone. The exception, of course, is the Good News of Christ.
In Romans 10, the Apostle Paul makes it clear that Jesus Christ was sent to offer salvation to everyone–no exceptions. He goes on to exclaim the way to that salvation is through faith in Jesus. But there is a catch–we can't believe in the Good News we haven't heard. Someone must tell us! Those who have heard and trust in Jesus' promise must tell others. There is no need for others to feel desperately trapped in the bombardment of bad news pumped out by the media; there is an alternative in the message of Christ, the Good News, that raises our souls from the earthly to the heavenly.
Father, thank you for sending Jesus to bring us the Good News, your plan of redemption for humanity. In our faith, we have the promise of transformation from lives of sin to righteousness. By the Holy Spirit, you walk beside us. You guide us through the bad news of this world and assure us of a time of peace and restoration in the eternal. Help us share this message with others so they may hear. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
