"Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:39 NIV
A few years ago, Janice and I had the opportunity to travel to the Grand Canyon. Janice had been there with her family as a child, so she knew what to expect, but I was not prepared for the enormity and beauty of the chasm. I had seen pictures, but they held little meaning until I witnessed them firsthand; I needed to experience them.
In a way, God's love is like that. We can tell people of God's love. They may appreciate our enthusiasm and earnestness, but until they stand on the rim peering into its depths and realize its expanse, it doesn't have the same meaning. It must be a personal experience!
Although by appearances it seems a giant rift, it's filled to the top with God's love. There is no hole large enough to separate us. Even in what appears to be emptiness and absence, His love remains constant and steadfast.
God, we give you thanks for the enormity of your love. We find solace in the promise that nothing in all of creation can separate us from you. As we witness, bless our words so they may create a desire in others. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
