Holding Hands

For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Isaiah 41:13 NIV

The human species craves physical contact. Physiologically and psychologically, our bodies experience change upon touch. Holding hands can lower blood pressure, slow our heart rates, reduce pain and stress, provide a sense of security, and reduce fear. We also experience pleasure and happiness in holding the hands of those we love.

If these are the positive benefits of human contact, how much more so it is with God. When he takes our hands, he assures us that everything will be okay, whatever our situation. And we find peace and tranquility as we feel that touch and experience his love. He is with us.

Heavenly Father, thank you for your loving touch. In it, we experience the peace of your presence and trust in you, and our fears and anxieties diminish. Thank you for your Son, our Prince of Peace, and the Holy Spirit, our Comforter. Amen.

Blessings,

Pastor Tim
