I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 NIV
In my early twenties, my best friend and roommate Mike committed suicide. His death devastated me and sent me down a long road of grief, doubt, and depression. Yet, in that time of anger and searching, God reminded me of his love for me. In his care, he would not leave me. Though others around tried their best to offer support, it was the intimate warmth of God that sustained me.
Christ's work of salvation is one of intimacy/ To each of us, our relationship with Christ is unique because we are all unique. We come from different backgrounds and experiences with different strengths and weaknesses, yet Christ has worked the same miracle of transformation in each of us. He sees our value.
Our encounter and conversion are no less a miracle than the Apostle Paul's on the Damascus Road. We also can boast Jesus "loved me and gave himself for me." He became the sacrificial lamb for me! You can't get any more intimate than that.
Most gracious God, thank you for loving me and sending your Son, Jesus, to die for me. Thank you for saving my life. Help me to be a witness to others. Amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Tim
