The Greatest Gift We Share

"May the God of endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude toward each other, similar to Christ Jesus’ attitude." — Romans 15:5 (CEB)

What’s the best gift you’ve ever received? A gadget, a piece of jewelry, a fragrance? For those A Christmas Story fans, maybe even a Red Ryder repeating rifle BB gun. In this season, we spend so much time searching for the perfect present. Yet Paul reminds us that the greatest gift is not something wrapped in paper, but the spirit God gives us to share with one another: endurance, encouragement, and the attitude of Christ.

Paul continues in verse 6: “That way you can glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ together with one voice.” The purpose of this gift is unity — that our lives, voices, and hearts might join in harmony to glorify God. When we bear one another’s burdens and encourage each other on life’s journey, we become living testimonies of Christ’s love.

So as you shop, wrap, and give, remember: the most lasting gift is the one God has already placed in your hands — the gift of encouragement, patience, and Christlike love. Share it freely. Offer it generously. Let it be the gift that draws us together in one voice of praise.

God of endurance and encouragement, shape our hearts to reflect the attitude of Christ. In this season of giving, help us to share the gift of love and unity that glorifies You. May our voices rise together in praise, and may our lives bear witness to Your greatest gift — Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Peace & Grace,

Pastor Tim
