Do you remember the first Star Wars movie released in 1977? As the film begins, we watch the words scroll onto the screen then fade into infinity, "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...." We were transported into the middle of a story that started years before. But, it was not the beginning – that happened long ago, nor the conclusion, but somewhere in between.
Our own lives are like that. We are somewhere in the middle of the story. God's plan started long ago and continues to unfold, and we all have a part to play. We have vague outlines of the program; we know the beginning and ending, but our purpose is not, at times is, fuzzy. As Paul says, now we see only the reflection in a mirror, but that plan will be made clear (1 Corinthians 13: However, in the meantime, in faith, we believe, and we seek the Holy Spirit for guidance.
Lord, we exalt and praise your holy name. We give you thanks for including us in your plan. Please help us live out our role today in the plan you made so long ago. Grant us the wisdom to know what we should do and the courage to do it. In Christ's name, we pray. Amen.
