Lost Items

"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13

I misplace three things consistently, my phone, wallet, and keys. Despite my best efforts to place them in the same place all the time, I get sidetracked and set them down in unusual places. This can sometimes lead to a frantic 5-10 minute search trying to locate them, usually when I'm in a hurry to get somewhere. I've found that only when I finally calm down and retrace my steps, I can locate the items.

Sometimes like losing much-needed items, we may find we've misplaced our closeness with God. In the busyness of life, we've set him down somewhere. We know he is here; we just can't seem to locate him. We become flustered with anxieties and distractions that hinder us in our search. When that happens, we need to take a deep breath and retrace our steps—permitting ourselves to become calm and earnestly search for reconnection, seeking God with our whole hearts through scripture and prayer.

Lord, we give thanks for your accessibility. When we seek you with our whole hearts, we know you are here. We confess we often become distracted and our relationship with you becomes a second place. Father, please forgive us and help us to remember the covenant you have with us. When we become lost, please help us retrace our steps. We ask this in the name of your Son Jesus. Amen.

Blessings!

Pastor Tim

P.S. Thanks to Janice for those times I can't find the misplaced items by myself.

P.S.S There are technical gadgets called Tiles that you can put on your frequently misplaced items to help find them. I have no idea how it works, but it's worth exploring.
